Tezeta: Memory, Return, and the City of Addis Ababa
Tezeta is an audio-visual ethnographic project that explores memory, migration, and change through family archives and street photography from Addis Ababa. Drawing on film photographs taken during my return to the city in 2022, the video weaves together personal narration, family photographs from the 1970sā1990s, and recorded reflections from relatives who remained in Addis Ababa and those who later left.
By placing archival images in dialogue with present-day street photography, the film examines how relationships to home and experiences of change shape both personal memory and collective understandings of place.
